The set of people celebrating the International Workers Day are doing so because they are the individuals who give their best towards achieving the identified objectives of their various employer.
Employees ensure that nothing hinders them from performing their responsibilities to their Empoyers- an attributes needed for all Christians.
We were created by God and given the task of performing good works.
(” For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them” Ephesians 2:10)
Bro Paul introduced a great matter while encouraging Archippus in Colossians 4:17 to take heed of the ministry which he has received in the Lord that he may fulfil it. He identified the matter of fulfillment.
We all claim to be Christians but how many of us are sincerely fulfilling that which has been committed to our hands?
Christians are called to live the life of Christ and to perform this task, there is need to study – that is; we will give ourselves to unfailing diligence.
God made us workers and require us to do the following good works:
1. Be Perfect : Matthew 5:48 Every believer should aim at being perfect. God gave the instruction and there is need to ensure it’s achievement. Though some says it is not possible to be perfect but I am sure that there is no impossibility with our God and the fact that He said it, it means it is attainable because His word never fail. We just need to diligently tred the path of perfection and by His grace we will definitely be!
2. Be Holy: Leviticus 11:44, 20:7 , 19:2 ‘You shall be holy for I the lord your God am holy’
As a worker, we should depart from iniquity and cleanse our ways day by day as we walk with God.
3. Preach the gospel : Mark 16:15 ‘Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature’ The task of preaching the gospel can be done through our way of life and by Speaking through words or text to unbelievers about Jesus.
The way of life of some believers is nothing to write home about, it even hinders the fruitfulness of their evangelism by words or text. Christians should live a life void of blames, we should embrace and pursue righteousness and godliness.
4. Pray: Supplications and prayers should be made by every believer for those who are far and near to them. The model of prayer that Jesus gave while teaching His disciples to pray shows that He wants us to pray, not for ourselves alone but for other people who are in need. Matthew 6:9-13 ( if you go through the prayer you will notice that Jesus never used the pronoun “I” in His prayers. He made use of the word “Us” all through: which means prayers should not be made for ourselves alone. We should be an intercessor.
God’s principle of reward
God’s principle of reward has never changed, He owes no man.
‘The labourer is worthy of his wages’- Deuteronomy 25:4 plainly shows that God is not like the various Employers we have in our world today who owes workers their wages and most times underpays them.
God reward everyman according to his works.
We believe you have seen for yourself that Whether you are a member of the workforce in your church or not God classifies you as His worker and as a worker you should diligently fulfil your ministry.
Happy Workers Day!
