On the 10th of January, a group called Citizens Advocacy for Social and Economic Rights (CASER) threatens legal action if Pastor Adeboye refuses to rescind his ‘retirement’ decision from the Nigerian arm of the church. The group made this call in a statement issued by the Executive Director of the Abuja-based human rights group, Mr Frank Tietie.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Segun Adebiji, has insisted that its General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, will not reverse the decision to appoint Pastor Joseph Obayemi as National Overseer while speaking to newsmen at the Redemption Camp in Mowe, Ogun State on Thursday.

He said, “If you know Daddy GO (Adeboye) very well, he does not make such an important decision without consulting the Church Council, and most importantly, God.

“That decision has been made and it does not in any way affect his position as the General Overseer of the RCCG,” Adegbiji said.

“So, there is no need to reverse the decision after the Federal Government has suspended the implementation of the FRC law”.
